Founded by Father McGivney in 1882, the Knights of Columbus was formed in an effort to provide much needed security for widows and orphans of Catholic parishioners and to help Catholic men remain steadfast in their faith. Father McGivney's original idea grew quickly, becoming an Order of Catholic men and their families, dedicated to promoting the concepts of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. Today, there are more than a million and a half members in over 13,000 councils worldwide. Members and their families donate their time and talents to a variety of causes, such as feeding the hungry, providing shelter for the homeless, fighting to protect the right to life of all individuals, involvement in the Aid for Friends program for elderly shut-ins, "Crusade for Life" pro-life efforts, Special Olympics, annual Easter egg hunts, support of parish programs, etc.

Here at St. Catherine of Siena, the Fr. Joseph Keeney Council # 8530 meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the parish office. Any man over the age of 18 who is a witness to the Catholic faith is welcome. If you are interested in becoming a Knight, please Contact Us or complete the form I Want to Join.

The Father Joseph P Keeney Council #8530, named after the Founding Pastor of St. Catherine of Siena, was chartered in 1984. The Council serves the parish and its nearly 100 members live in Horsham and its surrounding areas. We are pleased to mention that Fr. Rymdeika (4th Degree Knight), our current pastor, and Fr. Jacob (recently a 3rd Degree Knight) are active members of our Council.

We are excited to recently celebrate our 25th Anniversary, and the many efforts of our members over the years. Like all organizations, ours has experienced changes in the activities and services we've provided to the parish and community. We support the Church, our local parishes, the community, youth organizations, and catholic causes with donations and volunteering. As a Knight you choose your involvement, knowing wherever you can help, you are making a difference. Our Council and the Order are dedicated to family life and the many benefits it offers. From insurance to scholarships to service and social activities and programs, all are open to the whole family.
